Letters From My Past Self
I recently dug up an old journal that got in college to help me sort out my thought during this transitional phase of my life while I'm on the go. I was flipping through the first few pages when I found the journal entries I had written when I got my first part-time job in 2011 (too bad I wasn't blogging then!). After the last entry was a whole page where I had written "Get a full time job by end of August" all down the page. It's funny because not only do I not remember writing this, but it totally came true. On August 31, 2012, I started my first full time job. And on the next page, I am going to write "Get a full time job in another state by end of September." Let's see what happens!
I don't know about you, but it feels sort of surreal to me when ever I read things that I've written long ago. I t feels like I'm reading some else's writing, but then I know every emotion and detail they are describing.I usually tear out the old pages of journals when I reuse them, but this time I decided to keep the previous entries in. See it as my way of reflecting on the past and using it to help motivate me for the future.

It's good to write things down. It's a great way to come up with a plan (or steps) to achieve what you want. So keep doing it.
ReplyDeleteIt does help keep my thoughts in order and clear my mind so I can think better, especially when I have those spur of the moment inspirational ideas!
DeleteI hope this comes true again for you. It's funny how sometimes writing things down can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I hope so too!!
DeleteI agree, it's so weird reading old entries. And I'm glad that your goal came true! hopefully you will get a ft job in another state soon!
ReplyDeleteYeah I usually don't reread old entries because it feels...well, awkward somehow. But I think this is something I should learn to get over.
DeleteStumbling upon old journals is the best-- it especially makes your realize how far you've come. And fingers crossed about your next job!!
