Hello Kitty Toaster

I got this toaster over the summer (...or maybe it was last summer), but now I'm finally getting around to posting it!

I had seen these online before, but had never really thought of buying one for myself, but someone had left this one in the lobby area of our apartment. I'm usually wary of appliances that people leave around since most of the time the reason someone is getting rid of it is because it doesn't properly, if at all, but this toaster was still in the original box, so I decided to take a chance on it. When I got it into my apartment, I realized that it had actually never been opened, and still had the instructions and everything!!

Crime Tape Nails

Ok, so these aren't really crime tape nail designs, but the yellow and black reminded me of crime tape. This is good for an edgy look that uses colors that are great for Fall. I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Yellow, Avon's Mosiac Effects in Black, and then finished off with a Sally Hansen Hard as Nails top coat.

100 Posts (and Counting)!!

I'm giving myself a great big star for this one!
I know a lot of people set blogging goals and milestones, like getting "x" number of posts or "x" number of followers, but I've never been one for setting goals (much to the chagrin of my bosses) since I believe in having a "live and let happen" outlook on life.

I actually accidentally found out that I had 100 posts. I was checking my post lists for to make sure I hadn't already posted on a topic I was creating a new post for, and lo and behold, I saw that I had 100 published posts! Realizing that I have 100 posts under my belt made me think about my blogging. For me, blogging is a fun hobby and good way to pass the time during slow days at work, so I never really thought to keep track of my blogging activities, other than blog views. Well, I'm glad I've been able to keep the blog going for 100 posts, even though the first 50 were total crap.

Sorry, no giveaways for this milestone (I'm too poor for all that lol), but I'm sure you all will get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside when I say thanks to everyone for reading my blog!!

Where Have I Been? + Fall Tights

Those of you who are fairly active and regular in the blogging world may have seen my occasional comments on other people's blogs, but no no posts on my own. Well, I've been super preoccupied and busy lately, and the only time I can squeeze in is when I have downtime at work to check up on new posts from my blog list.

But, now that it's Fall (only my most favorite season ever!), I wanted to share my new tights. I love fall because it gives me some relief from my allergies (not much, though, since I have year-round allergies), and it gives me a chance to wear sweaters and layers, which can add creativity and diversity to any outfit.

I had to replenish my tights collection since most of my sheer tights all mysteriously developed holes in them since I wore them last winter.

My Summer Or How I Managed to Survive the Past Few Months

I was originally going to leave the title of this post as "My Summer", which sounded like those papers they make your write in elementary school about your summer vacation that you have to read out loud to the class. But since I 'm an adult now, I thought I'd spice up the title a little, not to mention that "My Summer" is a little misleading since it may invoke images of traveling and having fun with friends and family and all that good stuff. Not to say that my summer was bad, but it certainly didn't include any of the usual summer activities. Just a little warning: this post is VERY long with lots and lots of reading (this is what happens when you haven't written anything in almost 3 months).

Nerworking! Networking! Networking!

Being a natural introvert (INFJ all the way, and proud of it!), the idea of networking never appealed to me. I still don't even have a Facebook profile (although I did create a fake one for a day, but that was only to get a free in-game item in Pangya) or a Twitter account! If I need to connect with my friends, I just call them up, text them, or chat on Google. I also always had a feeling that it was all about making connections with people in high positions, which I always thought of as a very underhanded and unfair way to get a job! Now, however, I wish that I had started this when I first graduated!

Job Seach + Application Tips

Now that I have a job, I feel completely qualified to give out advice on job searching and job applications!  As am an only a year out of college myself, this guide is really meant for recent grads looking for entry level positions, but there is also a lot of valuable information that can be applied to any job search. I really wanted to make this because I know how hard the job search process can be, even with the help of your college's/university's career resources, and many of these things I learned the long and hard way through trial and error. I also can't stress the effect that the bad economy has had on the job market. I remember graduating and thinking, "I don't even really have to apply for anything because employers will come to me even in this economy because I just graduated from a top university!" Well, I received a rude awakening after 6 months and I still hadn't found a job! A lot of the people I've talked to in hiring positions say that most job openings get at least 200 applications in the first 2 weeks! Hopefully, though, this will help some of you out there!

Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat vs Avon Mosaic Effects

When I did my post of Avon Mosaic Effects topcoat, someone commented about how it would look with Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat. Honestly, I had never heard of this before until then, but now I've decided to try it out to see how they compare to each other. Of course, another reason I wanted to try the Crackle was that it was from one of my favorite cosmetic/beauty brands, which I can always rely on for great quality products! Since I didn't have any blue nail polish, I decided to go with the Crackle Overcoat "Wave Break."

The Sunny Blogger

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still alive!! It feels like forever since I posted anything on my blog three months ago, or have even checked in on other my fellow bloggers! Part of the reason for my hiatus has been because of work (more on my not so great work-life balance skills in another post). Lately, I also haven't really been inspired to write about anything either. I mean, I've had tons of ideas for posts, I just haven't felt like writing. Now with the sun shining all over the place, the birds and squirrels out and about, and the warmer weather, I've been feeling like blowing the dust off the old blog and getting to work again. Apparently, I'm better at blogging in the Spring and Summer than in the Winter and Fall, which makes sense since it was in Spring and Summer when I started blogging seriously.

Sorry this wasn't some super long intensive post, but this is all I can think to write about for now!

Sally Hansen "Golden" Xtreme Wear Nail Polish

Way back in September, I decided to spice up my nail life a little by trying out some metallic nail polish. I decide to go with Sally Hansen "Golden" Xtreme Wear because I had already planned to wear a golden-metallicish cap sleeve dress that I had bought at Macy's for working at a career fair at work. Sally Hansen "Golden" is a great color that is subtly sparkly, which is great since I was looking for something that would "pop" without being too juvenile (most of the sparkly nail polishes out there remind me of the kind I used to wear in middle school). This polish also had the added benefit of containing Sally Hansen's super duper nail hardening formula. As usual, I put on a top coat, and the nail polish lasted for almost an entire week.

Masquerading

Scene from "The Phantom of the Opera"
If you could do anything you wanted, what would it be? For me, it would be to have a Masquerade Ball! I've always loved the colors, the styles, the creative masks and wigs, and, most of all, the Rococo gowns with corsets and overflowing cleavage! There is something undeniably luxurious, magical, and even provocative about masquerade balls that feeds your imagination and draws you in completely!
