Review: Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash

This is a review for Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash from The Body Shop. NOTE: This product is no longer offered by The Body Shop, however, I'm writing this review as a way to give people an idea of what The Body Shop products are like. You can also read this review on A Very Sweet Blog for Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash.

I've been using this product every day for a good 6 months now, and I must admit that I love it! The Body Shop uses all 100% vegetarian ingredients (you can tell this scrub is natural because it smells like tea tree oil, and no artificial fragrances). There are crushed apricot stones in this particular product that act as exfoliating beads.

The consistency of it is not very thick, and it is a little runny compared to most scrubs that you would buy. It is very light, though, and rinses off easily.

On the bottle it says that it removes blackheads and is gentle enough to use "regularly". I only have blackheads on my nose, and I have noticed that since using this product, the black have have become less visible. I also noticed that the rest of my face looks clearer, I have fewer breakouts, and my nose is less oily (this may be because it's not as hot outside, too).

I don't have sensitive skin, so using this product daily works fine for me. However, I have heard of several people with sensitive skin, including my mom who was the one who gave me this scrub after using it herself, who have had to stop using products from The Body Shop due to irritation.

Overall, I would recommend The Body Shop based on using this product. Although, this particular product didn't get rid of my blackheads as advertised, I still like it because it did clear up the rest of my skin, and helped with a few problem areas (namely, my oily nose!).

  1. I've never purchased anything from the Body Shop-- or even been inside! Clearly I need to go (the weather is changing & my skin is going wild-- in a bad way). Thanks for the review!

    1. Oh wow, I didn't know they had stores too (ha, learn something new everyday!). I know what you mean, my skin can get super oily when the weather starts getting hotter.

  3. Excellent review! I think their tee tree is good for everyone except sensitive/dry skin users. At first it didn't effect me, but then after the third week I had some redness and had to stop like your mom.

    1. I saw some people of their site who wrote reviews saying the same thing. But it is surprising though since all of their products have natural ingredients, so you would think they would be safe for every skin type to use.
